Linked panel movement and cushioned end travel answer different questions. Specify both.

A three-panel door moves together in a video, so a buyer assumes it also cushions at both ends of travel. That assumption can produce a different order from the demonstration. Cavorlen's 40×18 reference identifies synchronized hardware and optional single- or double-direction soft close. The 40×65 reference makes additional functions configuration-dependent. Start with a movement drawing, then ask exactly which end behaviour the selected hardware provides.

Separate movement, cushioning and other functions

Synchronization describes how panels move in relation to one another. Soft close describes controlled cushioning near a specified end of travel in the selected system. A quotation should identify the affected panel, direction and end position rather than use one premium-hardware label for everything.

Do not infer automatic full-travel closing, push-to-open, locking, acoustic performance or anti-pinch protection from the words soft close. Manufacturer systems distinguish their functions and compatibility requirements. The requested function must be confirmed for the actual door, not borrowed from another brand's demonstration.

Mark what happens at each end

Ask the supplier to annotate a closed and an open elevation with movement arrows. For a single-direction proposal, identify the end that is cushioned. For a double-direction proposal, obtain confirmation of the behaviour at both ends for the selected arrangement. Also identify which panel the user normally operates and whether the demonstrated configuration matches the order.

A useful demonstration shows normal opening and closing in both directions, including the approach to the intended end positions, without a cut hiding the transition. Request the hardware and panel configuration alongside the video. Do not use a short clip as evidence of durability, operating force, safety certification or performance after installation.

Check the complete panel and hardware package

Hardware manufacturers publish product-specific limits and combinations. Ask for the applicable panel size and mass range, track arrangement, glass build-up and compatible components for the quoted system. Do not transplant a capacity from a different manufacturer's catalogue into a Cavorlen order.

A later decorative-glass or panel-layout change may alter the proposed assembly. Return it to the supplier for compatibility review before retaining the same soft-close option. Ask which components are included and how the authorised installer accesses them for adjustment or service. Do not add a generic damper to an existing door without a confirmed compatible route.

Compare a base offer and a defined upgrade

Request separate lines for the base movement arrangement, the named cushioning option and any installation or service items. Keep the base door geometry identical when comparing alternatives. Record whether the option is confirmed, excluded or awaiting a configuration check; do not compare an included option with an unpriced assumption.

Use the interior-door comparison to choose the product route and the casing guide to coordinate the finished surround. Request a movement demonstration for the exact proposed configuration.

FAQ

Does synchronized mean soft close?

No. Specify linked panel movement and end-of-travel cushioning separately.

Is double-direction soft close standard?

The 40×18 supplied reference lists it as an option, not a universal base inclusion.

Can a video prove a rated service life?

No. A movement demonstration does not establish a cycle-life test result.

Can the same option be used after changing the glass?

Obtain compatibility confirmation for the revised panel and complete hardware package.
